How to get RCP tones on your phone (if links above don’t help):

Step 1: Download the mp3 by clicking on its name.
Step 2: Transfer the mp3 from your computer to your phone.
Step 3: Apply the mp3 as a ringtone on your phone.

Step 2 is the hard part, but we might be able to figure it out.

First things first: how new is your phone? If you can’t remember your last upgrade, it’s possible that it may not be advanced enough to use mp3 ringtones. If you have a newer phone, it should be possible.

Every phone is different, as is every phone service, so we can’t guarantee that we can help you, but here are a few things to try:

    Verizon Customers
Try to email the mp3 to your phone. In Gmail, YahooMail, or whatever you use, send an email to yournumber@vzwpix.com and include your RCP tone as an attachment. When you receive the text message, try to navigate to the attached file and save it. Try the ‘options’ or ‘menu’ button and look for an option to save the file. If you’re not too handy with navigating the deep dark depths of cell phones, maybe you have a friend who is? Once you successfully save the file, it should appear in your list of possible ringtones or sounds. Alphabetically, it will show up under “R” for “RCP.”

    Bluetooth Transfer
Does your phone have Bluetooth? Many brand new phones use this technology, including the Motorola RAZR line. Be warned, however, that some service providers (like Verizon) cripple your phone’s built-in Bluetooth functionality. Try to get your Bluetooth-enabled computer to communicate with your phone.

Many people who aren’t familiar with using Bluetooth think they don’t have this service, but like we said, many new phones do. For example, on a RAZR, in the “Settings” menu, select “Connection.” Then “Bluetooth Link.” Then “Setup.” On this screen you should be able to turn your Bluetooth on. After turning your Bluetooth power ON, follow these instructions (click here). You should be able to transfer a file from your computer to your phone following basic set up.

(Don’t forget! Verizon blocks their customers from Bluetooth transfer capabilities! Even if you find it on your phone, you will most likely encounter an error. Try our Verizon email method above. But if you’re a loyal Verizon customer, ask them to change their Bluetooth-blocking ways!)

Phone-to-Phone transfer: Did you figure out all this Bluetooth stuff pretty easily? Download a bunch of RCP tones and use Bluetooth to transfer directly from your phone to your friends phones! (For example, there’s a very simple RAZR to RAZR Bluetooth transfer, available to all Non-Verizon customers.)

    Data Cable
If you received a data cable with your phone, or there is one available for purchase, you might be able to transfer mp3’s with it.

    Further Research
If none of the above options work for you, search specifically for information about your phone. We recommend searching the Howard Forums. Look up your phone’s make and model number (sometimes it is hidden under the battery) and search for “make-and-model-number transfer ringtones.”
