Samsung A707 & A737 (both the same method)

I used bluetooth to transfer the mp3’s from my computer to the phone. Both of these phones do have a microSD slot though that would make it even easier. For bluetooth, your computer will need to either have bluetooth built in or you can hook up a bluetooth dongle via USB. The instructions are generalized since I not in front of the correct computer to run through it.

    Transferring with Bluetooth:
Make sure the phone and the pc are successfully paired with the bluetooth. In my case, I simply right clicked on the blue bluetooth icon in the system tray and selected “send file”. I selected the mp3 file and it then asked me which device to send it to. I selected the correct phone. After clicking through the wizard, the phone will ask you if it is ok to accept the file. Click yes to accept and it will send the file to the phone.

    Transferring with MicroSD Card:
Insert your MicroSD card into the SD card adapter and plug it into your computer’s card reader port. Copy the mp3 files to the card. Remove the SD card from the computer and remove the MicroSD card from the SD card adapter. Insert the MicroSD card into the phone and then use the file browser to copy the files over to the phone memory.

Thanks Jeff! You’ve been added to the list and I sent the premium tones your way. Comments just as good as email. Thanks for the help, folks.

Sorry about the comment instead of email. I was so excited to see new tones I overlooked it. Keep up the good work.

    Sony Ericsson K750

(also, these methods work with related models, such as k700, w800, etc.)

The easiest and fastest way to do this is through the USB data cable. If you don’t have one, here’s what you’re looking for:

    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-DCU-60-Cable-K310a/dp/B000FDVK24

Once you have the USB cable at hand, you can either go to sony ericsson’s official website and download the pc suite software, or download only the usb driver from here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-DCU-60-Cable-K310a/dp/B000FDVK24

Once you have the usb driver installed, connect your phone to the computer using the data cable. The phone is identified as an external storage device, and can now be accessed from My Computer. You can now proceed to copy your ringtones.

If you have a memory card (Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo) and a card reader you can use a card reader to copy the ringtones. There’s no need for special software, just plug the card reader in any usb port, insert the memory card, copy over your ringtones, and put the card back into the phone.

If you have a bluetooth dongle or a bluetooth enabled laptop/pc you can use this as a method to copy over ringtones. Make sure you have your bluetooth software installed (for example Bluesoleil), and your bluetooth dongle plugged into any usb port. Follow your software’s instructions to pair your phone to the pc and copy over the ringtones.

K750 also supports IrDA for file transfer. This implies you’r pc has an IrDA port. This method is very slow and uncommon, better stick to the other ones.

Lastly, if your carrier has a data service available, you can download ringtones directly using gprs. This implies additional data transfer costs, depending on your carrier.

    Motorola v235

First, this mobile phone has not expansion slot. You can download the ringtones by using an USB cable. You also need the Motorola software called “Motorola Mobile Phone Tools”, if you dont have it, you can download it from here:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/18688491/motphot421.rar
Then, connect the phone to the PC, select your phone model in the software and then the transfer files option. After that, select the file or files that you want to upload to your phone. When you are finished select the upload button and the transfer will start.
When the ringtones are stored in your phone, the only thing you have to do is, go to Settings, Ring Styles, Loud Detal, and change the “Line 1″ tone for the one you want. For the message tone select on “Messages” and change it.

Other way to download ringtones is, if your carrier has a data service available, you can download them from the wap service using gprs or edge. This implies additional data transfer costs, depending on your carrier and the size of the file you downloaded.

These are the two ways for downloading ringtones on the Motorola v235, Greetings from Argentina.

For the LG UX800, these are the instructions.

This method will be using a MicroSD card.

    1. Download the ringtone to your computer. Save it to the MSD card (you will need a MSD reader/writer for this!)
    2. Remove the MSD card.
    3. Insert the MSD card into the MSD slot on the right side of the phone (There will be a small flap, flip it open.)
    4. Go to the menu and choose My Audios. Select the ringtone from the list and choose options, then choose “Move/Copy”, then from that menu choose “Move”.
    5. Choose Yes when the prompt asks you if you would like to move it to phone.
    6. Go to “Menu”, then “Settings”, then “Sound”, and then “Ringers” to set it as your ringtone, with various options.

Hi there, I have a Samsung D357 that is an oldy but goodie, and has a really loud speaker so I still use this phone on the job because it’s one of the few that I can hear above all the clatter. The way I get ringtones on:

    1. the easiest way to transfer is with bluetooth, this way you don’t have to pay for data costs if you don’t have that on your plan. Also, my phone can’t receive MMS messages (or emails) that are over 100k, so bluetooth is the only way to transfer a decent quality and length ring. I use a bluetooth dongle.

    2. turn on bluetooth on the phone by going to settings>bluetooth>activation

    3. If you haven’t paired yet with your computer, you’ll have to use the bluetooth software that came with the dongle to inititate a file transfer.

    4. Once you’re in, you should see the folders in the phone. I use “downloaded audio folder”

    5. You basically just have to drag and drop the ringtones into that folder.

    6. If you’re making your own ringtones, I have found that often the phone needs the ringtone to be saved in a bitrate 48kbps or lower, otherwise you get a weird FTP error on transfer, but for newer phone should be no prob.

    7. Once on the phone, just go into “my media>Audio>Downloaded audio> and choose your ringtone, choose options>set as>ringtone

    That’s it!

    Motorola Q - W/ windows mobile 5 update V3

    1. Run the application “Active Sync” on your smartphone
    2. Next on your XP PC run “active sync” (on vista it’s called Mobile Device Center)
    3. Wait for your device to connect and go to “My Computer” and find your device
    4. When you find your device’s folder open it and click on “Application Data”
    5. Then click on “Sounds” folder and you will see that it is empty, but don’t worry that’s just because the default ringtones are encrypted
    6. Drag and Drop or Copy and Paste your ringtones into this folder, this phone will hold a lot of ringtones :-)
    7. Now on your phone go to “Settings” then click “Sounds”
    8. Now you can change all your ringtones to the one’s you just recently installed, if you don’t see yours just keep click the right button until it shows up, Microsoft includes so many unnecessary ringtones :-(
